Austin, Tex., March 22.

The House resumed consideration of its appropriation bill this morning. In the executive office $7,500 were allowed for payment of rewards, $300 for books and stationery, $619 for freight, postage and telegraphing, and $36 for ice. Five thousand dollars were appropriated for payment of counsel in the Greer county case. A three hundred dollar appropriation for tools, seed and shrubbery for the capitol grounds was stricken out. Five hundred dollars were appropriated for a gardener for the mansion. One thousand dollars were appropriated for the pardon board and $300 for the housekeeper for the mansion. Two hundred dollars were appropriated for water and ice for the mansion. Four hundred and fifty dollars were allowed for fuel and lights. Six hundred dollars were appropriated for repairs of the mansion. In the secretary of state department an appropriation of $300 for a clerk to copy the laws was cut to $100.

The Senate this morning indefinitely postponed Stafford's bill preventing fire insurance companies from writing insurance in the state by agents living outside the state.

A lengthy discussion is in progress, at noon, of Smith's bill preventing railroads from issuing passes to members of the Legislature or any other officers and prohibiting their acceptance of the same.
