The damage suit of Louisa Sein against the International and Great Northern Railway company, tried by jury in the Thirty-seventh District court, was decided this morning. A verdict was brought in for plaintiff for $12,000. The case had been tried before and plaintiff was awarded $11,000 damages. The suit is for the death of plaintiff's husband, who was killed by being run over by a train.
In the divorce case of Lizzie Summers vs. George Summers judgment was rendered for plaintiff with custody of children.
The case of N. G. Butler vs. J. P. Hickman, Jr., et al., on note and foreclosure of lien, was continued. Death of N. G. Butler suggested.
Lee Cotton, charged with swindling, entered into recognizance before Judge Green this afternoon, in the sum of $500, with William Malbaum, Jr., and G. N. Herrmann as sureties. Kenneth Anderson, arrested on a similar charge, entered into recognizance yesterday with Jay Minter and Ed. Haltom as sureties.
FORTY-FIFTH DISTRICT COURT. The damage suit of Levi Gambold against the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway company, is still on trial before Judge Newton.
The case of Hugo & Schmeitzer against August Mendeke and wife, suit for debt and foreclosure of lien, was continued by agreement.
PROBATE MATTERS. Estate of John and Alexander Robin, deceased; will admitted to probate. Letters testamentary granted to Jackson Royal without bond. Selig Deutchmann and Taylor McRae appointed appraisers.
Estate of Maria McDermott et al., minors; letters of administration granted to Mary N. McDermott. Bond, $1,200. E. R. Lane, Phil Shardein and W. P. Finley appointed appraisers.
Estate of W. W. Hull, deceased; will admitted to probate. Letters testamentary granted to Sarah L. Hull without bond.
Estate of Peter and Joseph Wodenpohl, deceased; will admitted to probate, Anna Katharina Wodenpohl appointed executrix. Bond $2,000. W. F. Klaus, Erich Menger and Charles Schreiner appointed appraisers.
Estate of Jane Lee, deceased; will admitted to probate. Letters testamentary granted to Charlotte Chestnut without bond.
COMMISSIONERS' COURT. The county commissioners this morning approved a receipt of the county treasurer, showing that he had received from the county collector in full for the month ending February, $24,055.11 for taxes collected during the month. A number of paupers were allowed provisions.
LICENSED TO WED. The county clerk has issued marriage licenses as follows: H. L. Mitchell and Easter Jenkins. Jose Maria Villareal and Narcisa Herrera.
REAL ESTATE. John Muennink and Frank Rieden to Christoph T. Wiemers, lot 9, block 8, fronting 18½ varas on the south side of Zavalla street; $400. Thomas Pierce Nichols to James W. Byrnes, lot 9, block 44, on the south side of Morales street; $1,230.21.
JUSTICE DEVINE'S COURT. George Beasley, colored, was tried before Justice Devine this morning, charged with using abusive language towards Alice Bennett, also colored. There being no evidence against her, the case was dismissed.
