Jas. Howard, a turnkey at the Kansas state prison, was tomahawked last night by an Indian convict who is serving a sentence for murder committed in the Indian Territory. The Indian had been working with a hatchet, and Howard, who was near him, turned his back. That instant the Indian sank the blade in his skull, inflicting a fatal wound. No cause is known for the act.
