London, June 22. W. S. Gilbert, the celebrated dramatist, applied in the chancery court for an injunction to restrain Jennette Steer, the American actress, from continuing the production at the Comedy theatre of his play "Pygmalion and Galatea" on the ground that she had materially altered the business as arranged by him and as it had been played under his direction by other actresses. The hearing of the case was not completed and was adjourned for another week.
