1 min readYesterday morning at 10 o'clock all the fourth class postmasters in the Ninth congressional district met at the court house and elected W. C. Erwin of Granger as chairman of the meeting.
As briefly outlined in the call and at yesterday morning's session, the object of the meeting was to draft suitable resolutions and petitions to be forwarded to Washington at once for the purpose of getting all fourth class postmasters in Texas placed under the civil service rule.
The meeting was well attended and much interest was manifested in the proceedings. The necessary resolutions setting forth the wishes of the meeting and the benefits accruing from such action were drafted and signed. It is understood that supplemental petitions will also be widely circulated for the purpose of pushing the matter of getting the civil service rule extended protectingly over these fourth class po[...]
