He is very much elated over the encouraging prospects and expresses confidence in having for that event a select and charming party. He has perfected arrangements to take with him the University of Missouri Tigers, eighteen men, who will meet our Texas boys on the gridiron and inaugurate the famous college sport in the republic of Mexico. The first game will be played in Monterey on Christmas day with the governor of the state of Nuevo Leon presiding. The second contest will be in the City of Mexico, with President Diaz presiding. Mr. Hill's idea is to bring the citizens of the two republics together in a social as well as commercial relations, as the first is [...] the latter result.

The rate published for this event is less than half the regular fare in both hotels and railroads. He estimates that $[...] will pay all expenses for a week's sojourn in Monterey and vicinity, and that $50 will defray everything, including railroad, sleeping car, hotel expenses, with a good fund to buy Mexican opals, filigree, drawn work and curios in abundance, and to witness the great football contests, bull fights and the world renowned Christmas fiestas in [...] the Paris of the City of Mexico. Send your name at once; join the party, as the special train will leave Austin on the morning of the 24th of December.

The Missouri team will play Baton Rouge on the 17th, Southern Athletic club, New Orleans, on the 19th, Galveston on the 21st and San Antonio on the 23rd, if satisfactory arrangements can be made at the last two places. They will join the excursion to Mexico on the 24th and play in Monterey on the 25th and City of Mexico on the 28th with our 'Varsity team as opponents.
