A NEW ENTERPRISE

Articles of incorporation of the Ohio Land and Canal Co were filed county recorder's office this week with O. Schetcer, O. O. McConnell, H. J. Cleveland, J. F. McIntosh and G. U. Holcomb as incorporators and board of directors.

The proposed canal will be taken out of the Colorado river about twenty miles below Ehrenberg and will end at the oip mill. Twenty-five thousand acres of land will be reclaimed in one of the most beautiful valleys on the Colorado river. The valley is about sixty miles from Yuma and is in the heart of one of the greatest mineral belts in the world, which is now being rapidly developed, many mines already producing gold, silver, copper and lead. The mining industry will furnish an excellent market for all the products of the valley for ages to come, and the agricultural development will likewise stimulate the mineral output by a natural application of the laws of reciprocity. With its excellent location and an inexhaustible supply of water the canal scheme is one of the best in the territory, and the enterprising gentlemen at the head of the project have sufficient financial backing to push it to an early completion.

A town site has been selected and a model village will be built near the center of the valley. Within a year's time twenty-five or thirty families will be taking advantage of the excellent inducements offered by the company. The Chocolate mountains bordering the valley on the east will furnish a range for the pasture of vast herds of sheep and cattle, which can be fattened on alfalfa raised in the valley and disposed of in outside markets at an inviting profit.—Sentinel.
